5 Bridal Trends To Look Out For
There is always an “iconic wedding look” to every decade, some more familiar than others. 80’s it was the puffy sleeve, 60’s the three quarter length skirt, while the 20’s were all about a dropped waist and bird cage veil. It makes you think… what will be the iconic wedding look the decade of 2020? We’ve gathered some looks that we saw don the runways this Fall 2024 season, some may surprise you while some will seem familiar from centuries prior.
The Statement Bow with a Twist.
Bows were a huge stand out this season, and we know, you may be saying aren’t bows always a trend in bridal? Yes, but this year the bow trend had a bit of a twist. We started off our week with Sareh Nouri’s iconic bows, from the neckline detailing, to something new, a large petal pink colored bow that can be worn both at the waist or around the arms for more of a shrug look. What a fabulous way to pull in the feminine look than an oversized bow, we vote the bigger the better. Over at Amsale, head Designer Michael took the classic bow and turned it on it’s side by creating origami florals in replacement of the iconic bow. What’s your vote, classic bow or origami florals?
2. Jacquard, suited for a royalty!
Jacquard, the fabric created for royalty in the 4th century, this subtly textured fabric is the perfect mixture of simple yet elevated with it’s slight sheen and three dimensional feel. Designers have incorporated nature inspired motifs with timeless silhouettes, creating the ultimate feminine look. Perfect for the bride who wants to be traditional yet unique.
3. Dropped Waist
Reminiscent of the dropped waist trend of the 1920’s, it’s a look that dawned almost every collection we saw. You may ask, what is a dropped waist? A dress is considered a dropped waist is when the skirt seam of a dress hit’s just below the natural waist and flares out just at the high hip area. Do you think you’d dawn the dropped waist esthetic?
4. Watteau
A Watteau an unconventional twist on the bridal train, which is attached at either the shoulders or at the top of the dress. Made famous again from the beloved show Bridgeton, the Watteau train gives a cape like appearance. Most times a Watteau is removable piece, yet looking for a little extra drama? Why not bustle it!
5. The Second Look
The last trend we saw a lot of designers adapt to was the second look. A lot of brides are choosing to have multiple looks for the big day, have the moment in their bridal gown and then switch into something more fun or easy to move in. We saw everything, from a pearl encrusted mini dress to a two piece pant suit. Would you have multiple looks?
